Beckenham deserves to feel safe. Our campaign is calling for more visible policing and a dedicated police team for Beckenham Town, helping to protect our high street, local businesses and the wider community.

Shoplifting on Beckenham High Street is completely out of control, and it is having a hugely damaging impact on local businesses. Independent shops and businesses work hard to serve our community, yet repeated thefts can leave them facing significant financial losses, increased costs and a growing sense that criminals are acting with impunity.

Under Sadiq Khan - the Labour Mayor of London, policing in London has faced years of pressure, with concerns over police numbers, resources and funding. At the same time, local police stations in and around Beckenham have closed over the years, reducing the visible police presence that our community needs.

But this campaign isn’t just about tackling shoplifting. It is about making residents feel safe in their own community. People should be able to walk along Beckenham High Street, visit local businesses and enjoy our town centre without feeling worried about crime or anti-social behaviour.

Police visibility matters. A strong and regular police presence can help deter crime, provide reassurance to residents and businesses, and ensure that officers are visible and accessible when people need them.

We are calling for a dedicated police team for Beckenham Town — because our residents, our businesses and our community deserve better.

Keeping our local area clean, tidy and welcoming is something that benefits everyone. Clean streets, parks and public spaces help create a stronger sense of pride in our communities and make Bromley a better place to live, work and visit.

The Reform UK Bromley Branch – Keep Bromley Tidy Programme is about taking practical action in our own communities. Reform UK members are taking part entirely out of our own goodwill, giving up our time to help keep our borough looking its best.

We will be out several times each month across the London Borough of Bromley, helping to tackle litter and improve the appearance of our local neighbourhoods. We will be visiting different parts of the borough, including the Beckenham & Penge constituency, where we expect to carry out many of our clean-up activities.

This programme was introduced to our branch and put into action by Bromley Branch Vice-Chair Lou Bartholomew, who has helped turn the idea into a practical community initiative.

We believe that keeping Bromley clean is a responsibility we can all share. By volunteering our own time and working together, we can make a visible difference to the places we call home.
